Multifunctional plant for the removal and processing of carbon dioxide in Ekaterinburg

Location: Ekaterinburg, Russia

Description:

Multifunctional plant for the removal and processing of carbon dioxide in Ekaterinburg. 2022 Recently, the architect has been interested in various concepts of alternative eco-friendly building materials and alternative energy in architecture. And the scientific community is talking about global warming. According to scientists, it is not enough to reduce emissions into the atmosphere. Emissions should definitely be stopped. It is necessary to find a way to extract excess greenhouse gases from the Earth's atmosphere to prevent a climate catastrophe. I analyzed the situation in the world and realized that this technology is necessary for us for the harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity. In 2022, I designed a CO2 recycling plant. Among other things, I have created a multifunctional industrial complex. It includes a vertical urban farm, a research institute, public spaces and housing. The whole building is a closed ecosystem that generates electricity by itself. Also, people in this building are studying and applying additional methods of generating electricity. This building is an “isolated island" inside the city, which can function without outside interference. This is a well in the center of which is an oasis of forest and public areas. The projected object is located in the microdistrict of Yekaterinburg, which is called “Avtovokzal”. It is located on the territory of a former radio equipment factory. The existing buildings are old and have no architectural or historical value. These buildings belong to demolition. This site is actively developing and is located near the city center and the Iset River. The multifunctional plant in the plan consists of 4 large blocks: housing oriented to the river, a plant oriented to the city and to the direction of the winds, an institute and public blocks oriented to the connection with public transport and the park, and a vertical farm oriented to the south. As a result of this decision, the air passes through the fans, is cleaned of CO2, and then enters the yard where the plants are located. After interacting with them, the air becomes the cleanest for the residents of the residential part. All technical and transit facilities are located in the underground floors under the complex and the courtyard. The landscaping of the territory is zoned horizontally. The territory of the well yard is a semi-enclosed private space with a recreation area, a sports area and an entertainment area. The area around the building is public, which connects to the embankment. There is a square and comfortable seating areas in front of the entrances. All active points are connected to each other. The landscaping is also zoned vertically. The courtyard of the residential part is located on the level below and has a connection with underground public spaces. Due to this decision, it is cozy there, but there is no blowing and fence. The ground floor area is landscaped and serves for walking and relaxing. Pedestrian transit bridge connecting the Mayakovsky Park and the entry point. It has been raised to a level.
